Senior Brand Strategist
Who this will suit best?
This role is for an experienced brand strategist who is excited to lead and support the creation of new innovation products and develop brands across the alcohol sector including spirits, broader alcoholic products and non-alcoholic as well. This is a global role but with a huge focus on emerging African markets so experience here is an advantage. You have worked across brand development building and developing belief and purpose through to roots and behaviours. You have worked on innovation brands and have a finger on the pulse of broad human trends as well as product trends. You have delivered brand positioning but are also able to think contextually and commercially to develop brand campaign platforms as well. Being a spirits business it helps if you can bring some retail activation knowledge to the role.
Day to day responsibilities?
You will work closely with our key Diageo innovation clients and agency teams.
You will not only be answering briefs but acting as a strategic partner to the client business spotting opportunities to inspire and unlock new business.
You will be responsible for writing brand positioning, brand planning and campaign platforms. You will guide strategic thinking through trends, research, data and by getting to know the key African markets.
You will work alongside accounts and creative as well as our and global insight partners ensuring insight and strategic plans are honoured in the creative output.
You will be responsible for leading the way to find strategic insight partners and better our ways of working in the emerging African markets.
You will be responsible for understanding the clients business, the problems they face and defining thought leadership opportunities to drive the business forward.
You will also work with the Diageo global customer marketing teams to develop emerging market understanding and at times on our RPM venture brands and broader client briefs as well.
You will run cross agency and client working sessions and structured workshops in order to work at pace to develop and launch innovation quickly.
You will create well structured and designed presentations that are clear, emotive and straight talking.
You will receive coaching, mentoring and training as required to help develop your expertise. Working within a strategy team with diverse skillsets you will further find opportunity to learn and develop working within the team. Of course others will want to learn from you as well!
Type of work?
You will be working on brand positioning, category landscapes to define innovation opportunities, broader brand planning such as brand growth drivers, through to campaign platforms. You will also work closely to understand trade environments to deliver brand experience that is key to brand building for a spirits business.

You are keen to get hands on, you will be excited to visit emerging African markets and know how to really cut through with brand belief and purpose in the moments that matter. Curious to know more, rigorous in your output. You possess strategic and creative brain and are able to work side by side with creative. You are a motivated self starter who can motivate and inspire others as well. You’re an action taker and a straight talker –no politics or jargon. You’re a positive solution finder, with a never say never attitude. A natural curiosity you’re always looking that bit deeper than the others to find that killer insight. You want to work in a collaborative team environment in an agile and progressive manner.
